The annual FSA contribution limits have increased quite a bit since 2013. Starting at $550 in 2013 and now up to $3600 for 2026. We've put together a quick chart to help visualize the changes over time. You'll notice a large jump starting in 2021 to 2022 where FSAs saw greater year over year increases.

Prior to 2013, employers could independently set their own contribution limits. Then with the enactment of the Affordable Care act, the IRS was given the responsibility to set annual FSA contribution limits. These limits would increase year to year, adjusted for cost of living and inflation.
