Model

The HealthCraft Advantage Rail™ is a floor-mounted safety rail that provides vertical and horizontal support in the bathroom, bedroom or anywhere support is needed. HealthCraft's Pivot & Lock technology keeps the support bar in front of the user as they move. The mast is installed to a structural floor.

Features

  • Pivot & Lock: lift the horizontal bar to unlock, pivot to the next position, and lower to lock (every 45 degrees)
  • Height-adjustable rail, 30–38" from the floor
  • Floor mounting screws concealed with a cover plate
  • Anti-microbial white powder coat finish; latex-free, non-slip PVC closed-foam grip
  • Standard model supports up to 300 lbs; Bariatric model supports up to 450 lbs
  • Portable model secures to and releases from a low-profile floor plate so the rail can be removed when not needed; additional floor plates (AR-FP, sold separately) allow use in multiple locations

Directions

Professional installation by a qualified contractor is recommended. HealthCraft's warranty does not cover damage from improper installation or third-party services, and HealthCraft's liability is limited to the purchase price of the product.

Installation required

  1. Choose a location with adequate floor structure; ideally align and secure the mast or floor plate directly to a floor joist.
  2. Note the orientation of the 8 locking positions relative to the mast or floor plate before securing.
  3. Secure the mast (Standard, Bariatric) or floor plate (Portable) with the supplied 1/4" x 3" lag bolts (6 included) for wood floors. Concrete fasteners are not included; a 5/16" sleeve or wedge anchor is an example.
  4. Set the rail height, insert the pin, lower the handle assembly into the mast and secure with the set screw.
  5. Portable model: set the mast on the floor plate until the alignment pin clicks into the center hole, rotate until the alignment marks are centered in the sight hole, then press the knob down and turn clockwise until tight.

Tools needed

Drill, wrench or socket for lag bolts, and 3/32" hex key.

Read the complete manufacturer instructions supplied with the product before installation.

Warning

  • Failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions could result in serious injury or death.
  • WARNING – PATIENT ENTRAPMENT: When used beside a bed, there is a potential risk of entrapment (limb, neck, head, torso) between the rail and adjacent items such as the mattress, headboard or side tables. Position the rail at a distance considerably smaller or larger than one that could result in entrapment, and account for changes such as mattress compression or bed movement.
  • This product is not a physical restraint or barrier to exiting the bed.
  • Product is not intended to support full body weight. Do not exceed the maximum user weight for your model.
  • The mast must be installed to a structurally sound floor. Add wood blocking if adequate structure is not present.
  • Do not install if the structure in the floor is unknown.
  • Supplied fasteners are for wood structure only (minimum 2" thread engagement). Other fasteners must have a screw retention rating of at least 600 lbs (800 lbs for Bariatric).
  • Portable model: floor plate fastener heads must sit flush or below the plate surface. Do not install fasteners on an angle.
  • Professional installation by a qualified contractor is recommended.
  • HealthCraft's warranty does not cover damage from improper installation or third-party services, and HealthCraft's liability is limited to the purchase price of the product.
