SuperPole™ Safety Pole

Installation required

1. Assemble the top plate, clevis pin and cotter pin on a flat surface.
2. Place the base plate at the intended location and tilt the pole upright into it. The top plate must contact the ceiling squarely.
3. Insert a screwdriver through the extension screw and turn clockwise about 2–5 turns until the pole is secure against the ceiling.
4. Tighten the jam nut against the bottom of the pole, then tighten the jam nut and extension screw together.
5. Cover the extension screw hole with the C-clip and lower the cover sleeve.
6. Angled Ceiling Plate model: first fasten the angled plate to the ceiling joist with wood screws (minimum #10 x 2.5"), attach the pole to the pivot bracket, then lock the bracket angle on both sides with the supplied hardware.

Tools needed

Screwdriver. Angled Ceiling Plate model also requires a drill and 5/32" hex key (supplied).

• WARNING – ENTRAPMENT, STRANGULATION AND SUFFOCATION: When used beside a bed, never use unless the pole is tight against the mattress without gaps, or at least 12.5" away from it, and at least 12.5" from the headboard and footboard. Never use with children. Never use on toddler, bunk, water, electrical or inflatable beds, or with mattress toppers or soft compressible pads.
• People with dementia or Alzheimer's, or who are sedated, confused or frail, are at higher risk of entrapment.
• Stop using immediately if the pole or bed shifts from its original position, or if the product is damaged or missing parts.
• Check before every use that the pole is correctly installed.
• Do not install if the structure above the ceiling is unknown, on loose floor coverings, in rooms with radiant ceiling heat, or where the pole is directly exposed to water.
• Standard and Bariatric models must not be installed on angled ceilings; use the Angled Ceiling Plate model.
• Bariatric model, and any pole under heavy use, must be secured to ceiling joist(s).
• Angled Ceiling Plate must be secured to ceiling joists. It is not compatible with the SuperPole Bariatric.
• Damage may occur if the extension screw is overtightened.
